The AR Sandbox is an attempt to use 3D visualization to teach Earth Science concepts using real sand. The system allows users to create various topographies by molding sand and projecting the contours of the same in real time on the same sand!
The Features!
- It consists of a sandbox, a projector and a 3D camera coupled with a powerful simulation and visualization software
- The system allows users to create various topographies by molding sand!
- The camera placed above the sand identifies the landscape created with the sand and also its height
- The projector then projects a wide variety of colors on the sand based on the elevations created.
So what can you teach with the AR Sandbox?
Well almost everything! Whether its topography or contour lines, cultivation practices of farmers or studying the flow of water, from understanding how dams work to teaching how continents were formed, the AR Sandbox covers it all.
The AR Sandbox is compatible with the Geography curriculum taught in schools all over the world!
